⚠️ IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE
This is a guide. For legal help, contact an immigration lawyer immediately. Find resources at the ACLU or the National Immigration Law Center.
State Your Rights for the Agent
If you are scared to speak, press this button to play a recording of your rights for the agent.
"Officer, I am exercising my right to remain silent. I do not consent to a search. I will not sign anything without my lawyer. Am I free to leave?"
What To Do Step-By-Step
1. Remain Silent
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you. You can say, "I wish to remain silent."
2. Do Not Open Your Door
To enter your home, ICE agents need a warrant signed by a judge. Ask them to slide it under the door. An "administrative warrant" is not enough. Do not open your door if they don't have the right warrant.
3. Do Not Lie or Show False Documents
Do not lie about your status or provide any fake papers. This can create more problems.
4. Do Not Sign Anything
Do not sign any papers you don't understand or that are given to you without your lawyer present. You could be giving up your rights.
5. If You Are Arrested
Do not resist physically. Tell the agent you are exercising your right to remain silent and that you want to speak with a lawyer. Try to memorize your "A-Number" if you are given one.
6. Record the Encounter (If Safe)
If you feel safe, you can record evidence. Pressing the button below will open your phone's camera or voice recorder. Your phone's built-in app is the most reliable way. All recordings are saved directly to your phone, not the website.
